The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office 1 (DOST 1), through its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Pangasinan (PSTC - Pangasinan) in collaboration with the Provincial Population Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office (PPCLDO) held a blended Awareness-Seminar on Food Safety, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Mandatory Packaging and Labeling requirements on November 23, 2021 at Sison Auditorium in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Engr. Arnold C. Santos, Provincial Director of PSTC-Pangasinan welcomed the participants and expressed his gratitude to the provincial government of Pangasinan through PPCLDO headed by Mr. Elsworth Gonzales for the collaboration.

PD Santos presented the overview of the seminar and give a brief background on DOST programs and services being offered to MSMEs such as Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), Community-Based Projects (CBP), consultancy services, product packaging and label design, laboratory analysis and calibration services. He encouraged the participants to actively participate and to practice whatever learnings they will get to ensure quality and safety of their products.

DOST 1's Food Safety experts Ms. Cyrille Ann M. Maneja and Mr. Hero D. Galamgam, together with Packaging and Labeling expert Mr. Michael John C. Maquiling served as the resource speakers and presented their topics virtually via Zoom meeting.

The activity is their third collaboration this year and was attended by 40 food handlers/processors of their assisted MSMEs and cooperatives. The seminar aimed to provide awareness on the importance of food safety and cGMP as well as the packaging and labeling of their products.
